12/02 CHICAGO: Oh, the Food! I'm the first to admit starting out, I didn't really know what to expect with regard to Chicago food. But my education was delightful: these folks can really cook.
The lunch special featured an individual size spinach stuffed pizza that took a good 40 minutes to bake into a gooey, flaky perfection (fortunately the waitress warned us beforehand, so we didn't get anxious about the wait). When it finally arrived, it did not disappoint. The sauce had a hint of red wine, the mozzarella was satisfyingly stringy, the spinach fresh and the ricotta creamy and rich. So filling I could only finish half, it provided more than enough energy to fuel the rest of the day's sightseeing. |
