It was with great eagerness
that I set off to see the fabled Basilica di Santa Croce.
It was with great disappointment that I found the
exterior of Santa Croce all but obscured by unsightly
scaffolding. The front entrance was practically barricaded,
and things weren't much nicer inside.

or how they were going to get down (mouse over to

The facade of Santa Croce hides under a layer of
scaffolding.
The sanctuary center was crowded with
impossibly tall slender scaffolds. Overhead, hard-hatted
construction workers balanced at dizzying heights on narrow
boards.
It was at this location, that my alter-ego,
Lucy Honeychurch, ventured out on her own for her first Florentine
sightseeing adventure. I had hoped to play out my
Room with a View fantasies here, but how
could I, with all this modern day clutter? I only wasted a
few moments in sulking, before I opened my eyes and
took a good look around...
