Reminder
I had utterly forgotten
that today was Halloween, a purely American construction,
until I spotted this jack-o-lantern in a windowsill.

Day
Kim explores a Corniglia
street. The colorful little town had a relaxed, yet traditional
feel. |

Climbing
up a long series of steep steps, we were ready for lunch by
the time we reached Corniglia, gathered tight around
the cliff side, high above the sea. We looked around in the
little shops, and bought some bread in one, some cheese in
another. Combined with what we had brought from Manarola,
we assembled a fine picnic.

Trail
Buddies
Kim and I, just below
Corniglia, photo snapped by our Italian friends.
We rejoined our new Italian friends
in a sunny courtyard near the steps leading back
down to the trail. Caterina and her mother-in-law taught us
some helpful Italian phrases, while Caterina's daughter fed
her lunch meat to a growing contingent of Corniglia's feline
population.
