Egyptian Evening, Paris, France. When I left the Louvre museum as it was closing for the night, the streets along the Seine were quiet, with few pedestrians. Walking by myself toward my hostel, I was in a hurry to get back. I was about to cross the river when I stopped to capture this image of the obelisk at the Place de la Concorde. The obelisk, originally erected in front of the temple in Luxor in the 13th century B.C. was a given to the French by Egypt in May, 1830.
