Evening on the Marienplatz, Munich, Germany. In the very center of the city stands the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall), constructed 1867-1908. The voices of cheerful people, fresh from the beer halls, echo across the plaza. The ground is still wet from a summer rainstorm, though the skies have cleared.The tourist areas of Munich feel very safe for a woman alone at night, but I am exhausted from a long day (visiting Dachau and then bicycling around the city) so I don't stay long to enjoy the scene.
