The mountains of Montserrat, Spain. An hour north by train from Barcelona, coupled with a short, steep funicular ride, is all that is required of the modern pilgrim to reach the monastery complex. Here, surrounded by the striking scenery of unusual limestone peaks, it is quite easy to put oneself in a spiritual frame of mind, and it seems natural to marvel at the deft hand of the Creator.
