We both agreed it was worth it when we got there, and experienced this gem of a town, where the historic architecture has been so well preserved and restored, despite periodic wars and some terrible floods, the most recent in August of 2002. While it's small enough to be visited in a day, its real charm emerges in a longer stay. Take time to savour the inexpensive and delicious food and beer, and enjoy wandering the winding streets and alleyways, looking in to all the little shops, and making friends with the kind and outgoing people who live there. Like me, you'll find yourself reluctant to leave, and pledging to return to this idyllic town. |
