Abbey Road, Edinburgh, Scotland. Around the back of the Palace of Holyroodhouse (the royal residence of the Queen when in Edinburgh) stands the stately remains of Holyrood Abbey, an Augustine monastery dating from 1128.

Historically significant (Kings of Scotland were crowned here, and Mary, Queen of Scots, was twice married here) the abbey underwent several restorations until the roof collapsed in 1768. Since then, it has been left as it is today, a stone shell, open to the sky.
