This church was built in 1892-94, but there have been at least six earlier church buildings on this same site. Its situation, just below the cliff fortifications of Edinburgh Castle, made it a choice location for invading forces to overtake and ransack. Today, peace pervades, and my favorite thing to do is to hop across Princes Street to Marks & Spencer and pick up a sandwich and some Lemon Squeeze, then settle back on a sunny park bench and watch the Scottish world go by. |
