ITALY<< YESTERDAY'S PICTUREALL PICTURES

A Night at the Opera, Rome, Italy. The Chiesa di S. Paolo entro le Mura, built between 1873-1880, is significant as the first non-Catholic church built in Rome after the fall of Pontifical State. But the reason I was here was to enjoy a performance of Verdi's La Traviata, one of a seemingly infinite number of very cultural things one can do, when in Rome.

After a day of three major museums and two churches, I wasn't sure I had the energy for more, but ultimately it didn't take much convincing by my hostelmate, a kind American student from Stanford University.

Pictures of the Day are available for purchase as archival quality frameable art prints or stock photography. Send an email to liz@whereisliz.com for information regarding price and availability
