Since its beginnings in the 1230s, it's been seized and sacked on numerous occasions, a reflection of Scotland's tumultuous history.

Left in ruins since 1689, that so much remains to this day is perhaps a reflection of the tenacity of the Scottish character. Today, it even has its own Official web site.
