Above our heads swooped and soared a great number of -- what? Swallows? Bats?

They moved so fast we couldn't be sure, but they seemed so intent on their own business that they didn't threaten us.

We just stood in mute appreciation as the little bodies caught the light like tiny comets streaking across the black sky.
